How to fight ABR

In our view, one possible path to suppressing ABR is to turn to nature, which has been shown to offer a wide range of options to combat bacteria. It has been identified more than 6000 professional publications researching the antibacterial effects of plants. The bactericidal effects of many plant extracts, or their metabolites, are quite obvious and proven many times - and not only in in-vitro conditions. The supportive effect that some plants have on the treatment of infections has been known to mankind for thousands of years. We consider it extremely important to stress here that in no case it is not about replacing or eliminating antibiotics. The goal is exactly the opposite - it is about maintaining their effectiveness at least to the current extent.Therefore, in the case of a non-serious, recurrent or suspected bacterial infection, the physician should consider the use of high quality plant extracts with potential antibacterial the effects before he puts on antibiotics.

With whom we cooperate

The development of a traditional herbal medicinal product must meet strict criteria set out in legislation. Such a procedure obviously requires huge financial resources and takes many years. The great challenge remains to empirically and laboratory proven fact, to scientifically confirm in animal models, human studies and to accurately define which extracts, at what optimal dose and on which specific bacteria work best under in vivo conditions.

BIONAMED was founded with this goal in mind and in an effort to address the impact of ABR and to find alternative solutions, we are actively cooperating with the following institutions based on a signed Memorandum of Cooperation:

ABIOBAC efficacy testing.

As it is still a food supplement at the current stage of development, our own initial laboratory testing of bacterial efficacy was carried out at the beginning of 2024 in cooperation with the Faculty of Agronomy at Mendel University in Brno. Aureus.

The threat of antibiotic resistance (ABR)

Most physicians encounter increasing antibiotic resistance (ABR) in their practice almost daily. This is a very serious problem. The ever-increasing number of infections caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria has significant health, social and economic impacts. And forecasts of future developments do not offer much optimism. At BIONAMED, we are convinced that it is inevitable to look for ways to stop or at least slow down this growing threat. And to prevent the catastrophe of the complete ineffectiveness of antibiotics. For the same reason, the so-called "antibiotic resistance" was created in the Czech Republic. Action Plan of the National Antibiotic Programme of the Czech Republic (AP NAP) , which aims, among other things, to 'support the development of alternative medicines for the prevention and treatment of infections'. Also, the 'Programme for the Support of Medical Applied Research for 2024-2030' approved by the MoH includes 'Development of new antimicrobial agents and identification of alternative targets for the rational treatment of infectious diseases' ( Sub-area 2.9 of the programme) 

Among the international activities aimed at combating antibiotic resistance, we can mention:

• the United Nations (UN) Political Declaration on Antimicrobial Resistance adopted in 2016;

• the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Action Plan on Antimicrobial Resistance adopted in 2015, which was subsequently adopted by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO);

• and the European One Health Action Plan against Antimicrobial Resistance adopted in 2017.
